Today, 01.09.2022, C3M Studio gained another full planning consent in a conservation area for a large detached property in Petts Wood, Bromley.

Situated in the newly extended ‘Chislehurst Conservation Area’, that was put in place as we submitted the application, we are delighted that our clients can now progress with the plans for their forever home.

A bit of history: Petts Wood Green Suburb was laid out by Basil Scruby in the 1920’s and 30’s. Working with architect Leonard Culliford his masterplan defined roads, amenities and plot sizes. With covenants on generous individual plots, he was able to control building lines, roof levels and a limited palette of complimentary building materials, providing a highly ordered compositions, but with variation of design and detailing. Birchwood Road was one of the first roads to be created and the grandest road in the area, characterised by substantial detached houses and located within the Chistlehurst Road Conservation Area. Birchwood Road is a fine example of a Noel Rees house in the Neo Tudor style with restricted black and white palette.

Our proposals sought to protect the setting of the house within the conservation area, and redevelop the interior layout and provide generous new living spaces to the rear of the property addressing the mature garden and Petts Wood and Hawk Wood beyond.

What a fantastic email to receive from Bromley Council, on the 1st of September, setting back into the post summer recess.
