As an essential component of the Grad Pad project, C3M STUDIO designed a bespoke study pod. Each pod is created from a series of machined laminate faced plywood blades. The blades vary in profile to accommodate integrated seating and tables and are bolted together forming a rigid structure. Manufacturing and fabrication was developed with Installations Southern. The slatted design of the pods allows for both transparency and privacy dependent on orientation and location. The floating nature of the pods allows for multiple configurations, random, ordered, creating and defining the spaces in which they are located. They have proved very popular with the students!
